About The Polynesian Voyaging Society

Founded on a legacy of Pacific Ocean exploration, the Polynesian Voyaging Society seeks to perpetuate the art and science of traditional Polynesian voyaging and the spirit of exploration through experiential educational programs. In a generation they have sailed over 100,000 nautical miles on the traditional canoe of the Polynesians (the Hokulea) visiting countries around the world to foster intercultural dialogues and share methods and practices of sustainability. They've voyaged to Japan, Tonga, New Zealand, Easter Island, Vanuatu, Tahiti, Caribbean, Brazil, Bali, Australia, Samoa, Galapagos, Mauritius, and the US, prompting discussions along the way about sustainable and ethical environmental practices.
